Lower end and Heads after being painted at Custom Design
Studios. The engine is ready for assymbly.
Custom Swingarm in progress, Designed by Showket Design.
The original Chopper Guys Swing arm is very nice and I wanted to keep
it, but it is hard to justify 15 pounds for a swing arm. If you look
close in the top 2 pics you can see the drafting prior to the fabrication.
Upside Down on Fabrication Plate
The start of the seat pan to be mounted onto the bike
with all blind hardware.
An FLH transmission is placed into the Chopper guys
frame and setup with the swingarm. The FLH tranny is used to replace
the oil bag on the bike and to be able to carry more oil. Ride height
and suspension travel are measured, 11.5" Progressive Suspension
Adjustable Shocks are chosen for the rear. With the shocks chosen we
are able to set the rear fender and drill for mounting.
The licence plate mounting system has been fabricated
and welded to the inside of the fender. The plate will bolt to the fender
from the under side and only the numbers and stickers will show through
the flush mounted plexiglass lens.
The Custom tail light and brake light are flush mounted
into the rear fender. The graphics will be integrated through the lights.
The lights will be on a custom LED circuit that is currently under construction.
The Custom dash is one piece and is fit into the custom
Tank Panel. The tank panel is welded to the tank to become a molded
part in the future. The dash grows out from underneath the tank panel
at an angle. The ignition switch will be mounted in the center of the
dash just below the VDO Speedometer. The only hardware that can be seen
for the attachment of the dash is a small allen head at the front of
the dash.
The Tanks and Dash flow very nicely into the Chopper
Guys frame. Notice how the line of the tanks extends into the fame so
the flow of the eye is never interrupted by the transition.
The tanks have been completed at this stage. But, before
we can seal them the custom dash will be fabricated and a way to attach
it must be welded to the tank. Notice the custom tank mount in the rear
and the reshaping of the front tank mount along with tucking it closer
to the frame. The entire tank itself was lowered 1" on the frame.
Here is the tank in progress of being stretched at
Greg Hartwells Fabrication
Shop.
The rear suspension has just been mached up and drilled.
Here you can see the complete set up before any drilling was done. Then
the fender was drilled and test mounted for proper fit....it fit!
Here is the frame with the addition of the PM Cobra
wheels and the new rear fender (Not yet mounted). Currently she will
be built with a 180/55/18.
This is the new frame after powder coating. Notice
the swing arm- it is solid steel. Notice the width of the frame, it
can handle up to a 200 tire with the belt drive.
